A New Cape Breton Festival Tradition with Sloan, Bahamas & Gordie Sampson.
Get ready to go on a trip, without leaving the Island! Red Farm Field Trip is a new 19+outdoor music festival debuting Sunday, August 3, 2025, just minutes from downtown Sydney, NS. With a curated lineup led by Canadian icons Sloan, the soulful Bahamas, and Cape Breton’s own Gordie Sampson, this is no ordinary field day; it’s a one-night-only summer celebration of music, community, and nostalgia under the stars.

Set on the sprawling 400-acre Red Farm property in Sydney River, the festival brings back the feeling of Cape Breton field parties, promising a uniquely local yet destination-worthy experience - a late-night Field Trip to the farm with your friends... no permission slips required!

The 2025 Lineup:

• Opening the night is Amelie Sampson, Gordie’s daughter, as she makes her Canadian debut. Based in Nashville, she has performed on some of the most exclusive stages in North America including The Blue Bird Cafe and The Listening Room.

Morgan Toney, JUNO-nominated Mi’kmaq fiddler, fuses traditional and contemporary East Coast sounds.

The Songwriters’ Circle
Featuring Gordie Sampson, Bahamas, Dylan Guthro & Jodi Guthro.

Gordie Sampson, Grammy and JUNO-winning songwriter, returns home with a       heartfelt performance and some special guests.

Bahamas (Afie Jurvanen), a five-time JUNO winner and Grammy nominee, brings his classic-country-infused grooves to Cape Breton for the first time. With over 1.5 billion streams, Bahamas has become one of Canada’s most celebrated musical exports. His latest album, Bootcut, was nominated for CCMA Alternative Country Album of the Year and has earned praise from artists like Taylor Swift, Wilco, kd lang, and BTS. From Massey Hall to the Grand Ole Opry, his blend of humour and heartache makes for an unforgettable set.

Sloan closes the night with a high-energy, full-band performance of their beloved indie rock hits. With over 30 years as one of Canada’s most enduring rock bands, Sloan’s democratic, all-member songwriting approach has produced a deep catalogue of fan favourites—from the riff-heavy Money City Maniacs to the melodic Everything You've Done Wrong. Expect an unforgettable, hit-packed set that channels the spirit of classic Canadian field parties—loud, electric, and full of anthems that hit like your favourite mixtape.

A world Class concert without even crossin’ the Causeway!

Red Farm Field Trip is the first large-scale concert at The Red Farm (formerly Tobin’s Field), an iconic property reimagined as a cultural hub by Austrian owners Max and Brigitte Luxbauer,  with local project manager Christoph Mertinitz leading the charge.

“We’re planting the seeds for something bigger,” says Mertinitz. “Red Farm Field Trip is the first big crop; ready to feed music lovers from near and far.”

Orchestrated by Festival Director Sara Bryden of BRYDN Creative (co-creator of three past Gordie Sampson summer festivals), with nostalgic design and creative direction from KT Lamond of lamb end creative co., the event will be visually rich and delightful for all generations. Well, 19+ generations!
